THE FILM
What is Trans Oklahoma about?
Trans Oklahoma explores the complex journey of individuals from Oklahoma and their struggles with gender identity. This journey delves into their troubled upbringing, triumphs, and self-discoveries in a poignant and deeply human narrative.
The De-transitioners of this film speak on their personal journey on gender dysphoria and the complex emotions of living their assigned gender at birth. For some, these regrets fell after nonreversible gender-affirming surgery, which left them at a loss and longing for the identity they once embraced and the life they imagined they would have.
This film also contains the stories of parents who have endured this journey of gender ideology with their children. In these stories, you will hear and feel the kaleidoscope of parents' emotions, ranging from boundless love and pride to moments of frustration and worry. These parents often found themselves oscillating between feelings of overwhelming responsibility but ultimately transcending love in all of the highs and lows of this journey called gender ideology.

GENDER IDEOLOGY
What we mean by the term Gender Ideology?
According to modern standards, gender ideology pertains to an individual's innermost sense of gender, which may or may not align with the sex they were assigned at birth. It encompasses how one perceives oneself and identifies between masculinity, femininity, or neither. This is gender, according to countless professionals and allies of the trans community. However, there is much to be said about gender in the 21st century.
The simple concept of gender has become a labyrinth of ideas, feelings, and new norms. This brave new world has promoted provocative narratives pushing the hard lines between males and females. Gray areas have taken over from education to the medical industrial complex. During a time when children and young adults are exploring their bodies and navigating puberty, a culmination of organizations, literature, and support groups are facilitating practices that critics say are controversial. We have had much time, discussion, and research while bringing this project forward. This journey has challenged everything we thought we knew and understood about gender in America and abroad.

OUR MISSION
What do we want to accomplish?
Our mission is to reveal the dark side of the transgender life and how gender ideology has framed the lives of those that said yes to a new identity. By depicting the lives of those who have experienced the top, middle, and bottom of this journey, we hope to give a voice to the millions who now live with the consequences of their choice.
We created this film not only to show the vulnerability of their stories but also to share hope with those who believe this transition has brought them to the end. We hope to draw parents who have found themselves alone and unprepared as they watch their children be taken over by this. There are two sides to every story and we believe this is a side that should be told.
